CANADA, 1939- 1970
CANADA was once a great nation. It had virtually endless possibilities,
endless potential.
I was born in London, Ontario in 1942.
Although Canada was engaged in World War II at that time, and was emerging
from the Great Depression, it was about to enter a period of growth and
opportunity the likes of which it had not seen before, and has not seen
since.
In the 50s and throughout the 60s we built the
trans-Canada highway, the St. Lawrence Seaway, and our great airports.
Jobs were a-plenty, and, truly, from coast to coast, from fisheries to
forests, from cities to farms- it was a land of golden opportunity, of
unprecedented promise.

About Me
I am the superintendent of
a Toronto highrise. In past times, I've written several books: Criss-Cross,
Coach House Press, 1977; Transitions, Aya Press, 1980; a/z
does it, Nightwood Editions, 1988; e clips e, Underwhich
Editions, 1989; How To Grow Your Own Light Bulbs, Mercury Press,
1996. Some libraries carry these books.
Meanwhile, I was becoming
increasingly dissatisfied with the discrepancey between what I was reading
in well-researched books about what was happening to Canada and what I was
seeing on the so-called 'news'.
So I bought a video camera in 2002!
Since then, I've produced the videos listed on the homepage, and several
others. These videos are an extension of the information offered
on this website. They may be used as workshop
material by those interested in an educational approach toThe
Dream of Canada.
