Democracy in Action?

From September 12-14, 2006, in Banff, Alberta, a secret conference was hosted by Canada’s business elite, the Canadian Council of Chief Executives. The theme: Continental Prosperity in the New Security Environment. This meeting followed on the heels of similar meetings in Mexico in March 2006, and in Texas in March 2005 (Click on our Meetings link above for details).

Among the attendees were high ranking government officials and corporate CEO’s from Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. U.S. Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld was slated as a keynote speaker. No reporters were notified and no details about the nature of the discussions are being made public.

The Banff conference was the latest step towards the implementation of the North American Security and Prosperity Partnership, an agreement to replace our sovereignty, our currency and our civil liberties with the integration of Canada, the U.S. and Mexico into a North American Union. This North American Union will give the U.S. unlimited access to our oil and water resources and control over our military and customs border by 2007.
Plans for deep integration with the U.S. and Mexico have been in place since 2005; however there has been virtually no critical analysis from our national media and none of the four main political parties would reveal their position on the NAU in the last federal election.

MP’s and Media asleep at the Switch ?

Based on the abovementioned information, we appear to be witnessing the dismantling of Canada by stealth. However, by writing to news media (click on Media above for a form letter, and how to locate your MP) we can demand media or political representatives give this crucial issue the exposure it deserves and remind MPs that as our democratically elected representatives, they are obliged to state their position on the NAU.
