American 'Manifest Destiny'

Manifest Destiny was a doctrine that held that it was the destiny and duty of the United States to expand its territory over the whole of North America; and to extend and enhance its political, social, and economic influences. Advocates of Manifest Destiny believed that such expansion- defended as both necessary and benevolent- was obvious ("manifest") and certain ("destiny"). It was originally a political catch phrase used by Democrats in the 1845-1855 period.

Our American 'neighbours': The U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed a resolution of "extreme solicitude" condemning the foundation of Canada as a separate nation in 1867.

The Trilateral Commission

We feel that the origins of the NAU lay embedded in the formation of the Trilateral Commission (1973). There is considerable information about the Commission on the internet (although it is rarely talked about in the media) so we won't go into it in detail, other than to say that David Rockefeller recognized the 'shortcomings' of the Council on Foreign Relations (established in 1921) when he founded the Commission with Zbigniew Brzezinski. However, the CFR continues to play a central role in the promotion of the NAU (See our homepage NAU Chronology CFR links)

Rockefeller represented corporate and Brzezinski academic 'interests'. They chose approximately 300 members from North America, Europe and Japan, whom they viewed as being "birds of a feather." These members were at the pinnacle of their profession, whether Corporate, Academic, Political or Press.

Commission membership lists (available on the internet) show that the Trilateral Commission dominates the executive branch of the U.S. government, the Federal Reserve System, and is closely aligned with the Bank for International Settlements, which controls the world's currencies and money supply.

Here is another quote from Mr. Brzezinski:

"...the nation-state as a fundamental unit of man's organized life has ceased to be the principal creative force: International banks and multinational corporations are acting and planning in terms that are far in advance of the political concepts of the nation-state."

It can be argued that an arrogance (gandiosity) is reflected in this statement; and that, in general, Commission members are driven by lust for money and power. At this point in our history Commission members and those they control they have clearly made a very successful end-run around democracy in order to achieve goals that are not in the interests of hard working citizens.

If people fully understood the magnitude, the dishonesty, and the deception of the NAU power-grab, it is likely they would repudiate these individuals and their self-serving global schemes.

The hidden, deceptive, antidemocratic "we know what's best" agenda concerning the development and implementation of 'free' trade agreements; and now, the even more secretive NAU, can be traced to such grandiose, globally destructive agendas as seen through the formation of the CFR and the Trilateralism Commission. Since 1973 other like-minded organizations and so-called 'think-tanks' have arisen. In Canada, we have the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, The Fraser Institute, and the C.D. Howe Institute, to name but a few; which brings us to....

The Americanization of Canadian Politics: 25 Years of Submission


The 1985 Shamrock Summit initiated the delivery of the second largest nation in the world to the United States, through the FTA (Mulroney) and NAFTA (Chretien).

An extension of NAFTA, the NAU (Martin, Harper), being managed secretly, behind closed doors, and with the full support of Canadian political, business, and media representatives, assures that the dream of US North American Manifest Destiny will be realized. Without a wimper.

The final stage may be gentle, just a bit of media encouragement, like:
"Well, you know, really, there isn't that much difference between Canadians and Americans anyway. Why not join up with them? Might even make a good election platform!"

Many Canadians now believe that will happen, and so we might look forward to a further, subtle grooming of Canadian public opinion towards a 'peaceful' annexation.

In this way, Canadians will never even know that they have been egregiously betrayed by their very 'leaders' of the last 25 years: those who have reaped all of the benefits- the education, the health care, the resources, the peace, and so much more- of this Great Land.

And who have, for the sake of empty power and hollow position, allowed Canada to be gutted- eviserated- through these agreements. You don't think so? Here is a simple example, taken merely from the Act to Implement the FTA:

Pgph. 8(1) notes that the FTA is to take precedence over any other Act of Parliament; but the U.S. implementing legislation notes: "In the event of a conflict between a U.S. statute and a provision of the FTA. U.S. law shall prevail." Thus U.S. Law overrides both the FTA and Canadian Law. Did you know that? Most Canadians don't. It was never publicly discussed or debated.

P. 8(2) "No person shall...carry on any practice that is inconsistent with or contravenes this Act or any regulation made under this Act or the [Free Trade] Agreement." Thus everyone in Canada is bound by the terms and conditions of the FTA.

Rather than the rich Land they inherited, full of energy and promise, our 'leaders' over the last 25 years have delivered to us a Land owned by foreign corporations, due to the abolition of The Foreign Investment Review Agency (FIRA); they have all but given away our resources, due to the cancellation of our National Energy Program (NEP); and, through 'free' trade, essentially destroyed the Canadian manufacturing sector. Access to the education and health care facilities they took for granted- have been curtailed. These small, ungrateful, frightened, narrow-minded little men, OUR OWN LEADERS, have now- 2007- all but completed their mission: to happily, secretly, and without dissent deliver the American Dream of North American Manifest Destiny- and in so doing will have murdered The Dream of Canada.
